Welcome to our web site and thank you for your interest in Adoption Avenues Agency and the services provided. We hope that our Agency opens new avenues to a better and safer life for many of the world's orphaned children. Everyone at Adoption Avenues, has looked in the eyes of the beautiful faces, experienced the happiness of a loving hug, and seen the unbridled exuberance and joy these orphan children have. These children are the reason we created our agency. They are the driving force behind this movement towards a loving family home and environment. Adoption Avenues Agency is committed to providing families with the most comprehensive education, workshops and resource materials, in order to better equip them in understanding and dealing with all the issues that may arise during the adoption process. Following are the steps needed for the adoption process to begin.

  • The next step is to file your I-600A form (for non-Hague countries) or I 800A form (for Hague countries)  so the "Application for advanced processing of orphan petition" if you plan on adopting internationally. You can order this form on line from the  https://www.uscis.gov/formswebsite.

The form I 600A should be sent along with the Home Study, Proof of Compliance with Pre-adoption requirements (if any), Proof of Marriage of Applicant and Spouse (if applicable), Proof of Applicant’s US Citizenship (check the form I 600A for more details). The filing fee for Form I-600A is $775. An additional biometric services fee of $85 is required for each adult member of the household. USCIS will inform a person residing abroad if he or she must pay a USCIS biometric services fee. After the form I 600A is filled out send the form along with the with the above fees to USCIS NBC. You can find the address were to send here: https://www.uscis.gov/i-600a-addresses . After you have filed the I-600A form, USCIS will contact you to let you know when and where you are scheduled for biometrics.

  • Your home study needs to be completed by a licensed social worker, working with a licensed adoption agency. It can be the one you choose to do your adoption with or another licensed agency in your state. You can also contact Adoption Avenues and we will find an agency we contract with in the state that you reside in, to offer you better and lower fees. For this process the social worker will gather documents from you, come into your home and provide you with information concerning international adoption. The documents you will have to provide to the social worker are: your birth certificates, marriage or divorce certificates, financial statements and medical reports. The social worker will also ask for a criminal record check and child abuse registry clearance, autobiographical statements and references.

  • After you have completed your home study and have submitted your I-600A form or the I 800A form, you will need to start working on your adoption dossier. The dossier contains standard documents that you already have collected for your home study. Some documents are specific to the country you choose to adopt from. Adoption Avenues will prepare those documents for you and send them to you. After you receive your USCIS approval and have a completed your home study and adoption dossier Adoption Avenues will send your paperwork to the country of adoption. Once the dossier is registered and approved by several ministries and local authorities you will be advised about travel schedules, visas and hotel arrangements.

  • I would compare the adption process to a 9 month pregnancy and then the delivery process. The period that starts from the filing of your I-600A form or the I 800A to the moment you travel to bring your child home. During your pregnancy you can not see the child but you prepare yourself for their arrival in this world and you go through several emotional stages, as with the adoption process, you prepare yourself for the arrival of your child, going through several emotional stages but in the end the reward is quite unique.

Adoption Avenues Agency is a fully accredited Adoption Agency and look forward to answering all of your questions and concerns! Please contact us for more information.
